  • Location: Peenya - BangaloreNumber of Positions: 1Education Qualification : B.E./ BTech. Or M.E / MTech (EEE or Mechatronics)Years of Experience: 15 to 20 years
    Job Description
The Head of Assembly Operations is a newly created role reporting directly to the GM of Operations, responsible for owning the end-to-end performance of HHVTT's assembly function across two shifts. This individual is accountable for delivery, quality, and cost out of assembly — with shift supervisors reporting directly and dotted-line authority over cross-functional support members.
This is an equal parts delivery and transformation role. The right candidate will keep production running to target on a day-to-day basis while simultaneously building the operational infrastructure — processes, standards, and people capability — that will allow HHVTT's assembly operations to scale. They will be expected to interface directly with the GMs of Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering, and contribute to project-level budgeting and planning as a key member of the operations leadership team.
HHVTT is looking for a builder, not just a manager. The right candidate will be entrepreneurial by disposition — willing to roll up their sleeves, move fluidly across responsibilities, and take ownership of whatever is needed to strengthen operations and put the company in a competitive position.
    Key Responsibility
    A. Production delivery & operational performance● Own daily, weekly, and monthly assembly output targets● Manage production scheduling across both shifts; ensure shift handovers are structured, and accountability is maintained across the day● Track and report production KPIs directly to the GM of Operations — output vs. plan, delay root causes, and recovery actions● Maintain real-time visibility on work-in-progress across all active projects through operational dashboards, and escalate delivery risks early
    B. Quality & safety● Own first-pass quality out of assembly — defect rates, rework, and non-conformances; work closely with the Quality GM to close gaps● Ensure assembly work is executed against current, approved engineering drawings and work instructions● Own and enforce a safe working environment across both shifts: safety protocols, incident reporting, and near-miss culture● Ensure shift supervisors are actively managing quality and safety on the floor, not just output
    C. Cost & resource management● Own the assembly cost envelope per project — track budgeted vs. actual labour hours, investigate variances, and drive corrective action where overruns are recurring● Develop and maintain a standard hour’s library for assembly operations, continuously refined as processes and products mature● Manage overtime actively: authorise where justified, minimise where avoidable, and report to the GM of Operations with clear rationale● Monitor and control assembly overhead costs — consumables, tooling, and direct operational expenses — against budget
    D. Cross-functional coordination● Serve as the primary interface from assembly to Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering — flagging material shortfalls, drawing issues, and design-for-assembly concerns early● Partner with Engineering to ensure teams have correct, current drawings, BOMs, and work instructions ahead of each production start● Participating in project budgeting — provide labour hour estimates, resource planning inputs, and assembly cost assumptions for new orders
    E. People, process & continuous improvement● Build and embed a culture of structured operations: 5S, visual factory standards, standardised work cells, tool control, and defined work instructions● Develop shift supervisors — set clear expectations, coach on management practices, and build a pipeline of capable floor leadership● Lead a continuous improvement agenda: identify waste, reduce rework, improve throughput, and document gains as repeatable standard work● Establish the KPI dashboards, cadence, and review rhythm that makes performance visible and accountable at every level of the team
    Candidate Profile
Experience● 15 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly operations, with at least 4 years in a management role overseeing multi-shift production environments● Demonstrated track record of delivering on production targets — output, quality, and cost — in a complex, project-based or engineered-to-order manufacturing environment● Capital equipment, industrial machinery, or precision-engineered systems background strongly preferred — vacuum systems, furnaces, defence equipment, or similar high-complexity products● Prior exposure to aerospace, defence, space, or advanced manufacturing is an advantage● Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP quality management requirements; experience operating within or implementing these frameworks in an assembly or manufacturing environment
    Skills & competencies
Operational discipline: ● Rigorous about standards, processes, and follow-through; uncomfortable with ambiguity on the floorData-driven: ● uses dashboards and KPIs to manage performance, not instinct alone● People leadership: builds capable teams, develops supervisors, and creates accountability● Cross-functional effectiveness: credible and collaborative with cross-functional peers● Continuous improvement mindset knows lean, 5S, and structured problem-solving tools and applies them practically● Cost awareness: manages labour hours, overhead, and project cost with the same rigour as delivery and quality
