Position Summary
The AGM – Quality Assurance is a senior leadership role responsible for owning HHVTT's end-to-end quality function — spanning QA/QC, supplier quality, customer quality, QMS compliance, and continuous improvement. Reporting to senior leadership, this individual will set the quality agenda for the organization, lead a team of QA/QC engineers and inspectors, and serve as the primary quality interface with customers, certification bodies, and third-party agencies. This is a role for a technically deep, operationally rigorous quality leader who can build and sustain world-class quality standards across fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, and project execution — while driving a cultural shift from inspection-led to process-driven quality across the organization.
Key Responsibility
Quality Assurance & Control ● Lead all QA/QC activities across fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, and dispatch - including in-process, stage-wise, final, and pre-dispatch inspections.● Develop, review, and implement Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI) protocols.● Ensure compliance with applicable standards — ASME, ASTM, AWS, ISO, EN, CE, AS9100D — and monitor adherence to WPS, PQR, and WPQ requirements.● Coordinate NDT activities (UT, RT, PT, MT), oversee calibration and traceability of inspection equipment, and own the preparation of final inspection dossiers and manufacturing record books.
Supplier & Customer Quality● Establish and manage supplier quality assurance processes -qualification, performance evaluation, vendor audits, incoming inspection, and corrective action programmes.● Serve as the primary quality interface with customers, third-party inspection agencies, and certification bodies - leading customer inspections, FATs, and quality review meetings. ● Manage customer complaints, warranty claims, and field failures through structured root cause analysis; prepare and submit 8D reports and corrective action documentation.● Drive supplier and customer quality improvement initiatives to reduce incoming defects, field issues, and cost of poor quality.
Continuous Improvement & COPQ● Lead structured problem-solving initiatives using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, Pareto, and statistical quality tools to drive reduction in defects, rework, scrap, and process variation.● Establish, monitor, and actively reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics — scrap, rework, customer returns, warranty claims, and supplier quality losses.● Participate in design reviews, NPI activities, and manufacturing readiness evaluations; ensure quality requirements are translated from design to production through APQP, PPAP, and control plans.● Promote a culture of prevention over detection — embedding process controls, quality-at-source practices, and operator-owned quality across all departments.
Quality Management System & Reporting● Implement, maintain, and continually improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and AS9100D● Plan and conduct internal audits; support customer, third-party, and certification audits; lead management review inputs on quality performance● Develop and maintain quality dashboards and KPI reporting — internal rejection rates, NCR trends, COPQ metrics, supplier defects, and audit findings — and present to senior leadership with actionable improvement plans● Ensure compliance with documented procedures, records management, and all applicable regulatory and customer-specific requirements
Leadership & Quality Culture● Lead, mentor, and develop QA/QC engineers, inspectors, and cross-functional quality teams - building technical depth and management capability within the function● Reduce organisational dependency on final inspection by embedding process controls, standardised work, and quality ownership at the source● Conduct quality awareness programmes and technical training to build competency and drive employee engagement in quality and continuous improvement● Foster a culture of accountability, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement across all functions
Required Skills & Competencies● Pressure vessels, vacuum chambers, vacuum furnaces, heavy fabricated assemblies, and precision machined components.● ASME Section VIII & IX, AWS D1.1, ASTM, ISO 9001, AS9100D, EN standards, and CE compliance requirements.● Welding processes: SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), SAW; NDT techniques: UT, RT, PT, MT.● Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawing interpretation, and manufacturing processes. Documentation & Systems● QAP, ITP, FAT, SAT, PDI, CAPA, NCR, and quality dossier preparation● APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and quality risk management● ERP systems, MS Office Suite, quality dashboards, and engineering documentation systems
Leadership Competencies● Strong team leadership, people management, and cross-functional collaboration skills● Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capability.● Excellent communication and customer-facing skills — effective with customers, auditors, and certification bodies.● Ability to manage multiple projects, inspections, audits, and customer requirements simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
● ASNT Level II Certification in UT, RT, PT, and MT● Lead Auditor Certification for ISO 9001 and/or IMS standards● Experience in vacuum technology, pressure vessel manufacturing, aerospace, defence, or high-technology equipment manufacturing● Exposure to CE marking, PED, ASME certification, and third-party inspections● Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence initiatives
Key Success Metrics
● Reduction in customer complaints and warranty claims● Reduction in COPQ, scrap, and rework costs● Improvement in supplier quality performance● Audit compliance and successful certification outcomes● On-time closure of NCRs and CAPAs● Continuous improvement in quality KPIs and operational excellence metrics
